Coffee maker was broken. No alarm clock or any clock for that matter. Had to find the remote to the TV under the bed (which had not been cleaned in ages). The front desk staff begrudgingly brought one to me after I found it under the bed. Paper thin walls. You can hear everything from every room around you especially doors opening and closing. Makes it hard to rest in the mornings when doors are constantly being opened and closed. Right across the street from a favorite homeless hang out. You will be bombarded with people begging for change the moment you walk out the front door.
The location is fantastic. Right next to Union Square. You can explore San Francisco downtown really easily. The hotel manager, is extremely nice and was happy to help me out when I wanted to change to another room. Very, very friendly and perfect service. The room with the kitchenette is really clean and functional. Loved it.
It is next to a busy road, and it's pretty noisy at night. You can hear quite a bit of sirens and people talking loudly, etc.
Overall, I liked the place. The price is good. the location as well. The manager is friendly. Our room has a kitchenette. The room was clean and bugs free.
The neighborhood is kind of creepy. I would not recommend the place for a family. Even though i had not be bothered by the homeless / drug addicts you get to pass by on the street. The wifi was not working on the 6th floor so I had to work from the lobby
I was very satisfied with the room, it was tidy and nice. Wasn't too corny, like most rooms in this area and in the same price range.
The staff was slow at the reception desk.
Valuable fits perfect!
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room had microwave and fridge which was very useful. The room was roomy. It was within walking distance of the centre and there was a computer in the lobby for internet access.
It isn't really union square (at least 4 blocks away) and in fact is quite a dodgy looking area on first sight - didn't immediately feel safe - but turned out to be ok. For the price I paid it was good value. It didn't really do breakfast and if you don't like coffee then it really didn't do breakfast!
It was a great place to stay for the money we paid. We had a microwave oven, a fridge, TV, private bathroom, iron in the room and what my gf enjoyed the most a hairdryer! Also, the breakfast was good enough to make us awake in the morning even though it comprised just muffins with coffee/tea/juice. Oh and we even had a coffee maker in the room and they put us a new coffee bag in the room every day so that we could enjoy it after a hard tourist day :) The staff was also very receptive and professional. They immediately responded to our concerns and were always available for any help. We stayed there 10 days and when leaving I felt like I leave my homeplace.
The first thing that we as a young couple hated was our squeaking bad...it was afwul; I think it disturbed not only us but other guests in adjacent rooms as well. The second bad thing is a hotel's location. Although it is just 2-3 blocks away from all major sights the hotels itself is located in the very poor area, so be ready to meet lots of dirty, stinking cadgers around who can comment your apperance especially if you are a beautiful girl. And another minor thing that we didn't really care about but it drew our attention though is lots of hair left by housekeeper everywhere in the room. It was pretty annoying to see them everyday on the new white towels in the bathroom.
The place is in the seedy part of the city where homeless people frequent. The hotel itself is crampy, the elevator fits maximum of four people, however cramped. The room is horrible, I refused to sit on the chair because it looks so dirty. The reason that I slept on the bed was because I was dead tired. I have small children and they were scared to walk on the floor because it does not look clean. The hotel staff are accommodating and that is the only thing positive in this hotel.
The location, budget friendly and proximity to the many fabulous diners and stores.
Not much selection of morning breakfast and the street noise throughout the late evenings.
We arrived tired after a long flight and when we reached the hotel we were quite shocked to see some very unsavoury addicts and alcoholics on the hotel steps and the neighbouring corner.No-one in the hotel offered to help us with our bags, and the lift was not clean. I could not believe how dirty and cramped the room was.The floor had not been swept ,the extremely shabby furniture and bedcover were also dirty. The room looked onto a crumbling wall .There was no air-con and it smelled. We decided we could not stay there and checked out within half an hour.[Incidentally ,it was nowhere near Union Sq.] It proved difficult to find alternative accomodation as there was a huge I.T.conference in the city that week.
The front desk peronel was nice. I traveled international so I was seriously tired and they let me check in early.
Close to city centre, staff were great and the breakfast was very good, considering the price of the hotel you got a good selection (toast, fruit, muffins, juice and coffee).
The only thing was the rooms are a bit dingy, it could do with a good make over. The other negative was the location, seems to be on a street corner where a lot of homeless people gather in the day and especially at night, they can be quite loud and a bit daunting to walk past at night.
We liked the location ( proximity to the centre), friendly staff, nice old building, and breakfast was simple but good.
The room was not very clean, and the area was a bit dodgy.
the valet parking was the sole positive experience.
The room was so cramped we could hardly undress. The bedding was dirty. We were supposed to have coffee making equipment in the room. The noise in the streets kept us awake all night, even though we had requested a quiet room.
Nothing. The place wase filthy. The reception area, hall carpets and breakfast area made want to run and never return. The linnen in the bedroom was clean but old and worn. The curtains in the room were stained with mould. I will never ever return or recommend to any of my friends.
